In a devastating incident, one person lost their life while several others sustained injuries after a portion of the boundary wall at Gokulpuri Metro station in Delhi collapsed on Thursday. The incident, captured on video, occurred around 11 a.m. today, prompting swift emergency responses.
Extent of casualties and rescue efforts
According to DCP Joy Tirkey of North East Delhi, at least one person was fatally trapped under the debris, while several others suffered minor injuries. Immediate rescue operations were initiated by police personnel, aided by public assistance, to extricate the trapped individual. The victim, identified as someone riding a scooty at the time of the incident, was promptly rushed to GTB Hospital for medical attention.

According to Joy Tirkey, the Deputy Commissioner of Police (northeast), the incident occurred at 11 a.m., leaving at least one person trapped under the debris and suffering severe injuries, while others sustained minor injuries.

Police personnel, aided by members of the public, swiftly launched a rescue operation to extricate the trapped individual from the rubble. The injured person, who was riding a scooter at the time of the incident, was promptly transported to GTB Hospital for medical attention.

Delhi Fire Service officials confirmed that a side slab of the running metro line collapsed at the Gokulpuri metro station, resulting in one person sustaining injuries. Efforts are underway to identify the injured individual, with debris removal operations being conducted using heavy machinery such as JCBs and cranes.
