Delhi: Several people feared trapped after building collapses in Jahangirpuri | VIDEO

A portion of a two-storey building collapsed in northwest Delhi’s Jahangirpuri area on Friday afternoon, resulting in three fatalities and sparking fears that several other people may be trapped under the rubble. The Delhi Fire Services (DFS) reported that three people, including a woman, have been rescued so far. However, officials caution that more individuals might still be trapped. The DFS received an emergency call at 12:51 PM, prompting the dispatch of five fire tenders to the site. Local police and other rescue teams have also been mobilized to assist in the ongoing rescue efforts.

Rescue operations are continuing, with officials working meticulously to ensure the safety and recovery of all individuals involved. Further updates are awaited as the situation develops.

Casualties and rescue efforts

Fatalities: Three individuals have been confirmed dead, including Mukesh Kumar (45), who was initially injured and later succumbed to his injuries in the hospital. Two other victims, including a woman, were pulled from the rubble but were declared dead at the scene.

Ongoing rescue operation: Officials fear that more people might still be trapped under the debris. The Delhi Fire Service (DFS) received an emergency call at 12:51 PM, prompting the deployment of five fire tenders. Local police and additional rescue teams are actively involved in the ongoing operation.

Collapse context: The building, which is used for garment manufacturing, was reportedly undergoing repair work when the collapse occurred. 

The rescue operation remains underway as efforts continue to search for any additional individuals who might be trapped.
