In a tragic incident, a cyclist lost his life after being hit by a speeding Mercedes in Delhi's Ashram area on Saturday morning. The police have identified the deceased as Rajesh, who was walking along with his bicycle in the South-East area of Delhi when the high-speed vehicle struck him from behind.
The officials said, unfortunately, while Rajesh succumbed to his injuries on the spot, the driver has been arrested after being absconding for brief period. The police said, "Mercedes driver Pradeep Gautam absconded after hitting Rajesh. But the accused surrendered to the Police station in the evening and he revealed the whereabouts of the owner. The accused is a liaison by profile. The owner had given his car to the accused one month ago for selling."
Meanwhile, a FIR has been registered in connection with the case and presently the investigation is on.
