Arvind Kejriwal arrested: Delhi CM to spend night at ED office amid AAP protests

Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal's medical check-up at the ED's office has been completed.

Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal will spend the night in an AC lock-up at Enforcement Directorate's headquarters.

On the arrest of Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal by the ED, AAP leader and Delhi Minister Saurabh Bharadwaj said they were making efforts for the urgent hearing in the SC.

 "We have put our petition in the court already. Our advocate has gone to meet the registrar," he added.

RJD leader Tejashwi Yadav said the arrest of Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal clearly shows that instead of fighting the opposition democratically, the BJP wants to fight the elections under the cover.

"The NDA government has imposed an undeclared emergency on the country, violating political, democratic and constitutional morality and dignity. We all stand firmly with the extremely popular government of the people of Delhi. As we all had openly declared from Patna and Mumbai – we are not people who are afraid but people who fight and win," he added.

The AAP is planning protests across Delhi and Chandigarh and Arvind Kejriwal’s masks to be distributed to all workers tomorrow.

Delhi CM and AAP national convenor Arvind Kejriwal was taken to the ED Headquarters. Enforcement Directorate team arrested him in the Excice Policy Case.

No question of Arvind Kejriwal's resignation, he will run govt from jail, said the AAP after Delhi CM's arrest by the ED.

The Enforcement Directorate (ED) team has left from Delhi Chief Minister's residence after arresting Arvind Kejriwal in the liquor policy scam case.

Strongly condemn the vindictive misuse of central agencies to target the opposition, especially as general elections loom. This arrest showcases the depth to which BJP will stoop for power. 'I.N.D.I.A' stands united against this unconstitutional action against Arvind Kejriwal, said Sharad Pawar.

Arvind Kejriwal's lawyers visited the Supreme Court Registrar's house seeking an urgent hearing.

BJP national secretary Manjinder Singh Sirsa said the truth has won. His reaction comes a moment after Delhi CM and AAP national convenor Arvind Kejriwal's arrest by the Enforcement Directorate (ED) in the Excise policy case.

"Today the truth has won. Delhi's most corrupt Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal has been arrested. He today also went to the High Court to seek relief that he should not be arrested in the liquor scam, after seeing all the evidence, the High Court also acquitted him and refused to stay the arrest, which means he has done wrong... I want to tell the people of Delhi today, that this victory is yours, this is the end of corruption, and this is the commitment of the Bharatiya Janata Party and PM Modi... Another corrupt person, the Chief Minister is going to Tihar Jail. Congratulations to all of you, corruption is coming to an end in Delhi," he said.

AAP MLA Rakhi Birla was detained by Delhi Police while protesting outside the residence of Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal. Delhi CM and AAP national convenor Arvind Kejriwal was arrested by the Enforcement Directorate (ED) in the Excise policy case.

The CBI investigation in the Delhi excise case became the grounds for Arvind Kejriwal's arrest. Earlier, the probe agency had registered a case against Manish Sisodia and liquor companies and their owners in the excise scam.

Congress leader Priyanka Gandhi came forward in the support of Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal who was arrested by the ED from his residence in Delhi.

Lowering the level of politics in this manner suits neither the Prime Minister nor his government. But in this way, using the power of all the institutions of the country to fulfill one's political objective and weakening them by exerting pressure is against every principle of democracy. The bank accounts of the country's largest opposition party Congress have been frozen, all the political parties and their leaders are under pressure day and night from ED, CBI, IT, one chief minister has been put in jail, now the other chief minister is also in jail. Preparations are being made to take it. Such a shameful scene is being seen for the first time in the independent history of India," Vadra wrote in Hindi on X.

Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal will be taken to the ED Headquarters. The CM will get his medical process done and tomorrow he will be presented in the PMLA court.

The police detained the AAP workers protesting outside the residence of Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal.

Arvind Kejriwal will not seek an urgent hearing on his plea for protection in SC tonight, said senior advocate Abhishek Singhvi.

The AAP alleged the BJP can stoop to any level to make Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal bow down but the people of country are with him. An Enforcement Directorate (ED) team reached Kejriwal's residence Thursday evening, officials said, shortly after the high court refused to grant him protection from coercive action in an excise policy-linked money laundering case. AAP leader Saurabh Bharadwaj and Atishi have reached Kejriwal's residence where security has been beefed up. They claimed they were not allowed to enter the CM house.

Delhi Chief Minister did not get relief from the Supreme Court as the apex court refused an urgent hearing, said the sources. Now, the team Kejriwal will approach the Supreme Court tomorrow.

AAP workers staged a protest outside the residence of Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal amid ED search.

Section 144 has been imposed outside the ED office amid speculation of reaching Kejrieal's supporters in huge numbers to protest the probe agency.

The sources said Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal is likely to be arrested by ED as the Section 144 has been imposed outside the CM residence in Delhi.

Delhi Legislative Assembly speaker Ram Niwas Goel said it's known by all that Manish Sisodia had been arrested but nothing has been found.

600 more people have been arrested by now and they (BJP and ED) want to suppress the voice of Arvind Kejriwal before the election, and hence they want to arrest him, he added.

Delhi minister and AAP leader Atishi said Arvind Kejriwal is not a person, he is an idea, claiming she was not allowed to enter the CM's residence.  

"We cannot go inside because heavy security is deployed. We will wait here. If a popular CM is arrested this way, his supporters from all over Delhi will come here... The HC issued a notice today to the ED as to why are the summons not being quashed, and why interim relief shall not be provided to Arvind Kejriwal. Without waiting for the decision of the court, ED has arrived to arrest Arvind Kejriwal... If this is a search operation, why have they brought four buses full of police personnel?  What was the need to bring two buses full of RAF personnel? What was the need to barricade the whole area?... This is a conspiracy to arrest Arvind Kejriwal," she added.

Rapid Action Force (RAF) deployed outside the residence of Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal amid buzz over his arrest by the Enforcement Directorate. An ED team is present at Arvind Kejriwal's residence for questioning.

Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann reacted to ED's search at his Delhi counterpart's residence, saying  BJP's political team (ED) cannot arrest Kejriwal's thinking because only AAP can stop the saffron party.

AAP Minister Atishi said the people of Delhi "love" Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal. She said, "People of Delhi love Arvind Kejriwal. They think of him as their brother and son as he has done a lot for their development."

Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal has moved the Supreme Court against Delhi High Court's refusal to protect him in excise policy-linked money laundering case, sources said.

As ED searches Kejriwal's residence, AAP has said that the people of Delhi are watching this and will not remain silent. 

An ED team reached his residence to serve him summons, shortly after the Delhi High Court refused to grant him protection from coercive action in an excise policy-linked money laundering case.

According to reports, Delhi Health Minister Saurabh Bhardwaj, who wanted to enter Kejriwal's residence, was not allowed by the probing agency and asked to return.
