A shocking case of possible torture of a three-year-old toddler has come to light in Pune's Chinchwad. According to the police, burn marks found on the body of the three-year-old appeared to be from drippings of hot wax from a candle.
Mid Day reported that the girl's parents lodged a complaint at Pimpri Police station on Wednesday.
The family migrated from Nepal to Pune in search of livelihood.
The victim's father works as a security guard while the mother is a housewife.
The toddler is receiving treatment in Yashwantrao Chavan Memorial Hospital (YCMH) in Pimpri.
"We rushed her to hospital, where she is undergoing treatment. It seems to be a case of child abuse. We are now investigating the case and checking if any undue incident took place earlier." Senior Inspector Kalyan Pawar told Mid-Day.
According to her parents, the girl was tortured by unidentified persons tortured her.
A case has been registered under Protection of Children from Sexual Offence Act.
