Delhi: Minor boy critically injured in celebratory firing during wedding procession, case registered

A 12-year-old boy was critically injured after allegedly being hit by a bullet in a case of suspected celebratory firing. The incident was reported from a wedding procession in Rohini area of Delhi late on Saturday, police said. 

Commenting on the incident, the police said the incident took place around 9 pm in Rithala when the boy was standing in the balcony of his third-floor house to watch the wedding procession that was passing by on the street outside. 

Someone from the groom's side opened fire and a bullet hit the boy in his head, police said.

Following the incident, the boy was rushed to Baba Saheb Ambedkar Hospital by his family members, where from he was referred to a private hospital, a senior police officer said.

His condition is said to be critical. 

Police officials visited the spot and identified the suspect who fired the gun, he said.

Efforts are on to nab the man, police said, adding a case has been registered.
