In a tragic road accident, a child lost his life while over 30 others were injured on Sunday after a passenger bus overturned in Bilaspur due to the driver's negligence, said a police official.
The bus was carrying more than 50 passengers while it was on the Lalkhadan over the bridge. Soon after the accident, the injured were rushed to the hospital.
According to the Superintendent of Police (SP), Bilaspur, Rajnish Singh, "A bus carrying more than 50 passengers overturned in Bilaspur. The incident took place on the Lalkhadan Over Bridge in Torwa police station area."
He further said, "A child was reported dead in the incident and more than 30 people were seriously injured. The injured were sent to the hospital with the help of people for treatment.” He added that the vehicle overturned due to the driver's negligence.
"The administration has ensured that the injured are given better treatment," he added. The police have registered a case and further investigation is underway.
CM Vishnu Deo Sai reacts
Reacting to the incident, Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai took to social media platform X and said, "Received the sad news of the death of a girl and injuries to 30-35 passengers after a bus overturned near Bilaspur. The injured have been admitted to the SIMS and district hospital."
"The collector has been instructed to make proper arrangements for the injured persons. I pray to God for the peace of the soul of the deceased girl and the speedy recovery of the injured," he further added.
