Sukma: An unidentified group of people brutally attacked and killed a police head constable in a village situated in the Naxal-affected Sukma district of Chhattisgarh, the official said on Monday. According to the official, prima facie, the method of the attack indicated that it was carried out by a "small action team of Naxalites."

Unidentified persons attacked with sharp-edged weapons

The incident occurred during the intervening night between Sunday and Monday in Gadiras village when the victim, identified as head constable Sodi Laxman, was attending a fair held in the area, the official said.

He further said that the assailants, whose identities remain unknown, attacked him with sharp-edged weapons targeting his neck. Tragically, the police officer succumbed to his injuries on the spot.
