Chhattisgarh: Nine Naxalites arrested from separate locations in Bijapur

Out of total nine Naxalites arrested in the joint operations, eight were arrested from different locations under Usoor police station area while one was arrested under Naimed police station limits.

In a significant operation, nine Naxalites were arrested from different locations in Chhattisgarh's Bijapur district, police reported on Sunday.

According to an official statement, eight Naxalites were apprehended from various places within the Usoor police station area, while one was arrested under the Naimed police station limits.

"All arrested cadres were active as militia members of the outlawed Maoist movement and were allegedly involved in incidents of planting IEDs to target security personnel, damaging roads and putting up posters and banners," the police statement said.

Joint operation carried out by CRPF, CoBRA and local police

The operation in Usoor was carried out by a joint team consisting of the 196th battalion of the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF), the 205th battalion of the Commando Battalion for Resolute Action (CoBRA - an elite unit of the CRPF), and local police forces.

"Those held from Usoor are Sona Kunjam (40), Anda Kadti (30), Mangu Madkam (24), Santosh Kadti (25), Sona Muchaki (22), Hadma Kadti (27), Suresh Madkam (28) and Devendra Muchaki (25). These eight are allegedly involved in damaging the Usoor-Awapallli road at several places last month and putting up Maoist banners and pamphlets in support of their bandh call," the statement added.

Avlam Aaytu (49), who was arrested from the Naimed area by the District Reserve Guard (DRG), was wanted in connection with an attack on police personnel in the area.

Second arrest in Bijapur in a week

The latest delopment marks the second arrest in Bijapur within a week. In a similar action on June 5, the security forces apprehended nine other Naxalites in two different operations. Out of the nine arrested, five were involved in triggering an IED explosion at the security forces vehicle last month. Two security personnel in the vehicle narrowly escaped the attack.
