We stumbled upon an incredible post on Reddit where a former software engineer described how he managed to build an iPhone 6s entirely from spare parts bought in China.
Scotty Allen wanted to find out if it was possible to build an iPhone entirely from spare parts, so he decided to visit Shenzhen, China to see if he could collect all the required pieces.
Surprisingly, he managed to find all spare parts and as demonstrated in the video he posted, he found out that it is indeed possible to build an iPhone in China!

On Reddit, he said: "I'm the guy that made this video. I have almost 5 months of work invested into this at this point, and am really nervous and excited to share it with the world."
When asked if he had worked on any other assembly line? Probably automobile, he replied in negative. "No assembly line experience - yet. But I have visited a number of factories here in Shenzhen. I haven't made my own car yet either, but I have made my own land yacht," he quipped and provided a YouTube link:
About his phone creation, he said: "I spent well over $1000, but a lot of that included extra parts, stuff I broke, or tools I didn't end up needing. I probably have somewhere in the range of $300 worth of parts that actually went into the phone. A comparable phone from the Apple store in Hong Kong would be about $600. Definitely not about the cost though."
He built a like-new 16GB iPhone 6s, complete with a functional Touch ID Home button, using components that were purchased in the cell phone parts markets of Huaqiangbei, China. Nothing short of incredible.
