No one will marry girl who comes to mandap in jeans, says Union Minister Satyapal Singh

The Minister was expressing his views regarding appropriateness of dress in Indian culture, specially where to go in which dress.

In what appears to be a sexist remark that can spark outrage, Union minister of State for Human Resource Development, Satyapal Singh said that no boy is willing to marry a girl who comes to mandap wearing jeans. The minister who was sharing the stage with Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister, Yogi Adityanath said, ''No boy will be ready to marry a girl who comes to the mandap in jeans. Similarly, no saint will be revered if he gives up his traditional attire and wears jeans.''

The Minister was expressing his views regarding appropriateness of dress in Indian culture, specially where to go in which dress. Addressing students at the concluding ceremony of foundation day of Maharana Pratap Siksha Parishad, Singh also emphasised on the incorporation of human values in the new generation.

Hailing the institution for preserving the Hindu culture, the Minister said that education should be linked with employment. He also released two books with UP Chief Minister on this occasion - Bhartiya Sanskriti and Gorakshpeeth : Yoga Evam Sant Parampara. He also laid importance on mutts and temples and said they have always been centre of education and culture
