New Delhi: Donning the role of a strict school master, PM Narendra Modi has given a serious back lashing to 23 BJP Lok Sabha MPs, including a couple of ministers, for remaining absent during the voting for passage of crucial Land Acquisition Bill.
Acting as class monitor, the Parliamentary Affairs minister M Venkaiah Naidu, read out the names of the members of the Parliament who were missing on the voting day.
Ministers Babul Supriyo and Narendra Singh Tomar and MPs Shatrughan Sinha, Varun Gandhi, Poonam Mahajan, Pritam Munde, Riti Pathak and Chandra Prakash Joshi, were among the defaulters called out by Naidu.
Following that, Prime Minister asked the named MP's to stand up and justify their absence.
In a much like classroom affair, some MPs gave conventional excuses of sickness, mourning in their families or weddings, most offered lame excuses while some could not come up with good enough reasons to justify their absence.
After listening to them, Prime Minister warned the MPs and reminded them that people have elected them for serious business. Then, Mr. Naidu directed the erring MPs to be present in their respective Houses as BJP has already issued a whip for this week.
Noticeably, on the directions of PM Narendra Modi, a list of absent Lok Sabha MPs had been prepared, who were then interrogated at the weekly parliamentary party meeting on Tuesday morning.
Well If MP's have learn the lesson right in PM's ‘paathshala', it would save the BJP from further embarrassment in both Houses of the Parliament.
