The morning of 26th January is not a usual one in India; every Indian gets up with enthusiastic energy to celebrate the day with fervor!
For the younger generation the day is all about hoisting flag, co-curricular activities at school or watching Republic Day at the comfort of home. But for some it's beyond that...
Being Indian reached out to the senior citizens of our country and sought their views on the republic day, then & now!
As they mention about the memories from their first republic day, one can easily observe the spark of a child in their wrinkling eyes and their voices brimming with patriotic zeal.
In this video they talk about the first republic day of 1950 and how it made a long lasting impact on their mind.
Why it's important and much more relevant even today? It's a celebration of democracy, a dream our forefathers saw for us.
But we have lately become an ungrateful lot and apathetic towards system because republic day has become just another public holiday, where we try to grab more sleep or for spirit lovers it's a mournful dry day.
This day president honors the brave hearts that lay out their lives in the line of the duty or in simpler words they die so we can take a long nap and scold the system.
There are people who have refused lucrative offers from foreign companies and chose to stay here, we are in a budding stage and our nation needs a lot of nourishment.
We do have problems but if everybody decides to leave for his own sake then what will become of our country.
