New Delhi: A nurse in her wedding dress who tried to save a man suffering from a heart attack has been hailed as the prettiest bride in China. The incident occurred on a beach in the Chinese city of Dalian where Guo Yuanyuan was posing for photographs with her fiance.

A man swimming in the sea suddenly started shouting and waving his arms in distress. He was brought back to the shore in an unconscious state by a few swimmers but no one knew how to perform CPR on him.

Meanwhile, Guo heard about the incident and rushed to the spot in her wedding gown after jumping off a three foot ledge where she was posing. Being a cardiac nurse at a local hospital, she was exactly what the doctor ordered. Guo spent 20 minutes performing CPR on the man but unfortunately he never recovered and was pronounced dead of a heart attack when the ambulance arrived on the spot.

Her wedding dress and make-up may have been ruined but the 25-year-old nurse was widely applauded for her valiant effort. Chinese social media awarded her the title of the prettiest bride in the country.

Speaking afterwards, Guo made it clear that she was a nurse first and a bride only later. "At that time, I only remembered that I was a nurse. My career's responsibilities are higher than that of a bride,' she said.

Guo's fiance, Xiao Liu, did not mind being demoted in the pecking order. On the contrary, he was proud of her and even admitted that she had run faster than him when the incident occurred. We hope this sweet couple enjoy a lifetime of wedded bliss!
