Issue of racism is still alive in 2017. Which era are we living in?

Racism has been absorbed in our DNA so badly that it’s getting harder day by day to get it out of her system. Another incident has brought this issue to light.

A distressed teenage girl used the medium of social media to share to horrible way her dad behaved with her. REASON? She went to her prom with a ‘Black’ guy. Anna Hayes from Arkansas went on the prom with her friend Phillip Freeman and the delighted teenager also shared the pictures on Facebook.

Her happiness was short-lived as her very own dad decides to send her outrageously racist texts. She sent those texts to her prom date, Phillip who later shared those messages on Twitter. She didn’t know Phillips was going to do that but she’s glad that he did.

She received racist texts from her dad

She explained, “It's important for people to see that racism is very much alive.” There’s no false hullabaloo about the issue of growing racism in the country.

Anna lived her dad when she was younger. After that, her parents divorced and she moved in with her mom. Ever since then she’s been in a least touch with her dad. She told Buzzfeed, “He had always been openly racist around me when I was growing up in his household, but it never really occurred to me what it exactly meant to be racist, when you're a child you look at the world completely different,”

He also warned her that if she ever dated a black guy, she would be dead to him. Her mother felt horrified about her dad’s racism but there’s nothing that she could do.

She adds, “This just hurt more because I can not believe how anyone can hate someone they don't even know because of their skin color.” She took to Facebook to clear some things up.

This incident from a ‘First World Country’ leaves us in dismay. We feel pity that racism is still alive.
