A woman captured a stunning video of a rare pink dolphin swimming in a Louisiana channel on the weekend. The video was captured by Bridget Boudreaux on Saturday afternoon in Cameron Parish. She was on a boat with her husband when she spotted the pink dolphin ‘Pinky’ jump several away from her. She took her camera out to immediately capture the moment. According to her, there were two pink dolphins swimming together but one vanished before she could film it.
The dolphin is fondly known as Pinky owing to her unusual pink colour. Dolphin of such kind was first spotted in 2007 as a calf swimming with its mom. It was spotted again many times over the past few years.
“I about fell out the boat,” Boudreaux told KHOU. “I was like, wow, that’s not a regular dolphin, that’s a pink dolphin.”
Experts are still unsure why the porpoise is pink in colour. Many believe that it could be a kind of albinism or a rare genetic mutation. This pink dolphin has a number of fans. People of Louisiana adore the dolphin and post the picture of any sightings they get. Pinky has its own Facebook page as well!
