A 45-year old Ludhiana farmer knocked the doors of the court to seek compensation as his land is acquired by the Northern Railways. What he got in return shook the entire nation with surprise. He got the entire Swarna Shatabdi train that runs between Amritsar and New Delhi as compensation.
In an unexpected order, the court of additional district and session judge, Jaspal Verma technically made Ludhiana farmer the owner of the train. This happened because the Northern Railways failed to pay him a compensation of Rs. 1.05 crore as directed by the court in 2015. The court also ordered attachment of the office of the station master.
Now the train becomes the property of the farmer, Sampuran Singh. But unfortunately, the train is too big to be taken home!
When the train reached the station, Sampuran and his advocate, Rakesh Gandhi reached there. The court orders were handed to the train driver on arrival. The section engineer then got the train released on a superdari in the presence of a court official. This lasted for about 5 minutes.
The train was not stopped as it would hurdle the smooth movement of hundreds of passengers.
What will Sampooran Singh do now with a 300-metre long train?
