We’ve all come across diamonds and jewels costing insanely too much, of course we’ve read about them and not touched them in real time! But a bizarre incident took place in Brazil when miners dug a gargantuan 800-pound rock that costs an eye-watering amount of $250 million!
What’s so special about it?
Actually, it’s not a normal rock that we come across while hiking. This giant eye-catching rock is an emerald! The miners were digging in the Carnaiba mine in a tiny hamlet of Pindobacu. Their tools hit a hard giant black-coloured rock that gleamed in green under the light. They did the tedious task to carve the precious stone without damaging it.

The local authorities confirmed that the titanic rock was sold to a neighbouring mine with an anonymous owner. But the buyer’s lawyer Marcio Jandir claims that they didn’t have any plans to hide such a giant emerald behind closed doors.
He told G1 Globo: 'We have already done all the issuance of the certificate of origin, a requirement of DNPM [National Department of Mineral Production].
'The document has already been issued, and today the owner of the stone is authorized to transit with it in national territory.’
'Obviously he wants to do exhibitions with the stone and present in museums and libraries.'
The stone will be cut and polished into 200,000 carats of emeralds! Can you imagine?
