Outperforming Bharti Airtel, Reliance Infocomm has become the second largest telecom operator in terms of adjusted gross revenue ( AGR ).
For the June quarter, Jio had an AGR of Rs 7,215 crore through access service. The company recorded a rise of 14.6% compared to the last quarter, whereas Airtel's Agr fell by 5.1% to Rs 6,723 crore as mentioned in financial data released by Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI) on Wednesday.
Reliance Jio, the new entrant, exceeded Vodafone and Idea Cellular's AGR, individually, in the January-March quarter.
Vodafone's and Idea's AGR plunged by 9.2% and 7.2%, respectively. Apart from Jio, BSNl was the only telecommunication company that showed a growth in June quarter.
After the entry of Reliance jio in the market in September 2016, a tariff war began in the telco industry. The analysts believe that with the current growth speed of Mukesh Ambani-owned Jio, it will soon become the largest operator.
