No respite for commuters as fuel prices continue to rise; petrol, diesel rates hike in Delhi, Mumbai

Petrol, diesel prices reached Rs 80.72/litre (increase by 23 paise/litre) and Rs 72.83/litre (increase by 22 paise/litre) respectively in Delhi.

Fuel prices continued to spiral on Monday. Petrol, diesel prices reached Rs 80.72/litre (increase by 23 paise/litre) and Rs 72.83/litre (increase by 22 paise/litre) respectively in Delhi. Meanwhile, fuel prices were hiked in Mumbai also as the rates of petrol and diesel stood at Rs 88.12/litre (increase by 23 paise/litre) and Rs 77.32 (increase by 0.23/litre) in the state.

Meanwhile, Congress-led group of Opposition parties have called for Bharat Bandh today against the rising fuel prices. According to the protest clarion issued by Congress, the Bharat Bandh intends to raise voice against 'price rise', 'fall' of rupee against the dollar and other issues that 'affect' the people across the country.

Schools, colleges in many states are likely to remain shut. Functioning of public transport system, cinema theatres, multiplexes are expected to take a hit.
