New Delhi: Chinese handset maker Xiaomi has launched its much-awaited Redmi Note phablet in India, along with a 4G variant, the Redmi Note 4G. While the 3G version costs Rs 8,999, the 4G LTE is priced at Rs 9,999.
The Xiaomi Redmi Note will be available only through flash sales starting December 2, just like the Xiaomi Mi 3 and Redmi 1S. Customers will have to register for the first flash sale on Flipkart after 6pm IST on Tuesday, November 25.
The Redmi Note 4G will be also available in Airtel stores in six cities. The handset will be available in the second half of December.
The 3G variant of Redmi Note features a 5.5-inch 720x1280 pixel IPS-LCD display with a pixel density of 267ppi. It comes with dual-SIM support and is powered by a 1.7GHz octa-core MediaTek MTK6592 SoC, coupled with Mali-450MP4 GPU and 2GB of RAM. It runs Android 4.2 Jelly Bean with the MIUI v5 skin on top. Inbuilt storage includes 8GB along with support for microSD card expandability (up to 32GB). The handset offers a 13-megapxiel rear autofocus camera with LED flash and a 5-megapixel rear-facing camera. Connectivity options include GPRS/ EDGE, 3G, Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n with Direct and hotspot, Bluetooth 4.0, Micro-USB with OTG, and GPS/ A-GPS. The Redmi Note gets its juice from a 3100mAh battery.
The Redmi Note 4G version is powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 400 MSM8928 SoC. It has dual band LTE support and has been tuned to support Indian bands (TDD-2300 MHz & FDD-1800 MHz). Unlike the 3G model, the Redmi Note 4G is single SIM only. The 4G variant runs Android 4.4 KitKat, with MIUI on top.
