New Delhi: Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg on Tuesday announced that he will give away almost all his wealth (a whopping $45 billion) to charity in celebration of her new born baby girl 'Max'.
With this announcement, Zuckerberg has made it into the league of other Philanthropic billionaires like Warren Buffet and Bill Gates who have also donated a sizeable part of their assets in good works.
Earlier also, Zuckerberg had donated $1.5 billion to the Silicon Valley Community Foundation in 2012 and 2013.
According to The Associated Press, Zuckerberg's donation will help him top records as one of the most philanthropic people in history, and certainly as one of the most philanthropic people alive.
Here's a look at some of the most philanthropic donations in the past decade.
1-Warren Buffet pledged to donate a total of $43.6 billion in 2006 to the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation and three other foundations. Buffett also pledged to donate $3.1 billion to three different foundations in 2012.
2 Bill Gates has inspired many billionaires to donate their fortune in the good works. As of May 16, 2013, Bill Gates had donated US$28 billion to the foundation
3 Former Oracle CEO Larry Ellison, with an estimated net worth of $50 billion, has pledged 95% of his wealth in charity. Ellison has reportedly given away at least $808 million in his lifetime.
4-Helen Walton, the wife of Wal-Mart Stores founder Sam Walton, donated her estimated fortune of $16.4 billion to a family foundation after her death in 2007.
5-Leona Helmsley, who made her fortune in hotels and other real estate, donated an estimated $5.2 billion to charitable trust after her death in 2007.
6-Wipro chairman Azim Premji, who has a net worth of $17.4 billion, is among Asia's most generous tycoons, having given away more than $4 billion of his fortune.
7-Medical entrepreneur James Sorenson donated an estimated $4.5 billion to a family foundation after his death in 2008.
8-Hotelier Barron Hilton pledged to donate $1.2 billion to the Conrad N. Hilton Foundation in 2007.
9-Former investment banker Peter Peterson donated $1 billion to a foundation bearing his name in 2008.
10-Ralph Wilson Jr., the longtime owner the National Football League's Buffalo Bills, donated $1 billion to a foundation bearing his name after his death in 2014.
