Viber, a direct competition to VOIP services like Skype that offers high-quality audio calls to users globally, has said that it has crossed 40 million registered users in India.
In December 2013, the app's users were 13 million. Globally they have 516 million unique users across 193 countries.
Of late, Viber has added multiple features taking into account the requirements of the Indian users. One of the key releases last year was Viber Public Chats, a feature that allows users to discover, share and interact with conversations, communities and content on mobile.
Meanwhile, WhatsApp revamped its Android application and also introduced free voice-calling to iOS.
