New Delhi: Popular e-commerce company Snapdeal faced a protest by users for a comment by its brand ambassador Aamir Khan over 'intolerance'.
A large number of smartphone users uninstalled the app and also gave a 1-star rating to the app on Google play store.
Some users even demanded that Aamir be removed as the brand ambassador of the company in the comment section on the Play Store.
While the protestors gave a 1-star rating and bad reviews, another section of users countered them by giving a 5-star rating. While the 5-star rating for the Snapdeal app still outnumbers 1-star rating, there is a significant surge in lowest ratings for the app.
Hashtag #AppWapsi became one of the top trends on Twitter with Aamir's critics tweeting requests to uninstall the Snapdeal app.
Snapdeal had signed up Aamir Khan as its brand ambassador in March this year.
Aamir's intolerance comments created a stir in the society with sections of political parties criticising him, and some supporting him. Aamir had shared that his wife Kiran Rao suggested leaving India in the face of intolerance.
