New Delhi: Skype cofounder Janus Friis, along with the rest of the Zeta Project Swiss team, has just launched a new free communications app simply called Wire. The company will soon be launching browser add-ons as well.

Wire is also synced across the platforms it's available on, whether on smartphone, tablet, or desktop. The app is available now on the App Store for iPhones and iPads running iOS 8.0 or later, and on the Mac App Store for Mac computers running OS X 10.9 or later.

Built by a team of more than 50 people from 23 countries, Wire app will allow users to chat, participate in group messages, sync conversations, and make voice calls, apart from share pictures, music and videos across devices.

Wire doesn't support video calling as yet, but its Co-Founder and CEO, Jonathan Christensen, believes that the team is capable of including that functionality as well.
