New Delhi: Tracking a firm trend in the global market, silver prices jumped by Rs. 453 to Rs. 37,424 per kg at the futures trading today as speculators indulged in creating fresh positions.
On the Multi Commodity Exchange, silver for delivery in March traded higher by Rs. 453 or 1.23 per cent at Rs. 37,424 per kg in a business turnover of 1,400 lots.
Likewise, the white metal for delivery in far-month May traded higher by Rs. 437 or 1.16 per cent to Rs. 38,080 per kg in six lots.
Market analysts said fresh positions built-up by speculators largely in tandem with a firm trend in the precious metals overseas, supported the upside in silver prices at the futures trade.
Meanwhile, the white metal was up 1.7 per cent at $16.85 an ounce in Singapore, the highest level since December 15.
