New Delhi: The BSE Sensex on Tuesday surged nearly 247 points. Similarly, the NSE also gained. Markets witnessed gains despite the fact that the anti-corruption Aam Aadmi Party is heading for a huge victory in the 70-seat Delhi assembly. AAP is leading on 66 seats while BJP is only leading at 3 seats.
At 11:17 a.m., the 30-share index was at 28,487.21, up 259 points, 0.92 per cent. It touched a high of 28,522.77 and a low of 28,044.49 in early trade.
The Nifty was at 8,602.10, up 75 points, or 0.89 per cent. It touched a high of 8,613.35 and a low of 8,470.50 in early trade.
For some investors, the rebound came as a surprise as analysts had attributed the selloff over the last few days to fears of a victory for the Aam Aadmi Party in Delhi.
Analysts say that AAP's victory in Delhi will not have any impact on the government's reform agenda, which is closely tracked by investors.
