New Delhi: Samsung has launched its much-awaited Galaxy Note 4 phablet in India at Rs 58,300. The South Korean company has also announced an introductory offer in which it is offering up to 2GB of data per month for subscribers who are not active on data packs. Subscribers with active data packs will get up to 1GB per month for two months.
Galaxy Note 4 comes with a 5.7in Quad HD Super AMOLED capacitive touchscreen display (2,560 x 1,440 resolution) technology that stretches to 500 pixels per inch. Samsung is offering the device with an adaptive display - one that changes depending on the light of the place you are viewing the screen.
Despite a higher-resolution display, Samsung says that Galaxy Note 4 will deliver 7.5 per cent more battery life than its predecessor due to an optimized interface. The phablet has a 3,220mAh battery and comes with fast-charging technology, so the battery can go from 0 per cent to 50 per cent in 30 minutes.
The Note 4 sports premium looks by having a Galaxy Alpha-like metal band wrapped around the entire edge of the device. It feels sturdy and more luxurious. The faux-leather back sans the stitches feels softer in hand and is just enough to make it look more premium. Yes, it still lacks the weighty metal feel of the HTC One (M8), but it's a definite improvement over its predecessor.
The device is powered by an octa-core processor (1.9GHz quad-core + 1.3GHz quad-core). The phablet comes with 3GB RAM and the only storage option now is 32GB, with support for 64GB microSD cards for more storage.
On the imaging front, the Note 4 offers 16MP rear camera that comes with Optical Image Stabilization, a feature that has become common among smartphones nowadays. Samsung has become a part of the selfie brigade with a 3.7MP front camera that allows users to take wide-angle selfies (120-degree).
The S Pen stylus in Note 4 packs in twice the sensitivity, along with new fountain pen and calligraphy pen options. As compared to Note 3, users can multitask better in multi-window mode of Galaxy Note 4, which supports minimizing apps as floating widgets. It also has better text selection and crops selected areas on the screen for later viewing. The S Note app gets its own widget on the Galaxy Note 4.
The Note 4 also retains the Galaxy S5's rear heart-rate monitor and home button fingerprint scanner. Samsung has also included a barometer and hall sensor in its new phablet.
On the software side, Samsung has used an interface that is largely the same as that of Galaxy S5. The Galaxy Note 4 phablet will come pre-loaded with support for 14 regional Indian languages, including Hindi, Punjabi, Bengali, Gujarati, Urdu, Tamil, Telugu, Malayalam, Kannada, Marathi, Oriya and Assamese.
