New Delhi: The co-founder of India's top e-commerce firm Flipkart Sachin Bansal has spoken on the controversy erupting from Aamir Khan's latest statement on growing 'intolerance in the country'. Sachin took the side of rival e-commerce firm Snapdeal which has been on the receiving end after the actor's comments.

Aamir Khan who is the brand amabassador of Snapdeal has been criticised by many users.

Sachin Bansal took the microblogging site twitter to defend Sanapdeal "This is a flawed logic. Brands don't buy into brand ambassadors personal opinions. @snapdeal shouldn't face this," Bansal, tweeted.

Flipkart itself was at the receiving end of such a protest in April as users angry with the company's move to join Airtel Zero down-voted and uninstalled its app in protest.

Meanwhile in a media statement issued today Snapdeal said ‘” Snapdeal is neither connected nor plays a role in comments made by Aamir Khan in his personal capacity”

"The Snapdeal is a proud Indian company and is focused on building an inclusive Digital India.” it added.

The  e-commerce player was forced to issue a statement after it faced backlash from its users over Amir Khan remarks that his wife feared for her children and asked him if they should leave India.

A large number of smartphone users uninstalled the app and also gave a 1-star rating to the app on Google play store.

Some users even demanded that Aamir be removed as the brand ambassador of the company in the comment section on the Play Store.

While the protestors gave a 1-star rating and bad reviews, another section of users countered them by giving a 5-star rating. While the 5-star rating for the Snapdeal app still outnumbers 1-star rating, there is a significant surge in lowest ratings for the app.
