Mumbai, Oct 4 : The Indian rupee lost 13 paise to Rs 49.28 per US dollar in early trade on the Interbank Foreign Exchange today due to appreciation of the US currency against other major rivals overseas and a weak opening in the domestic equity market.
Dealers attributed the rupee's fall to dollar gains against the euro overseas and a lower opening in the stock market.
The rupee had closed 19 paise lower at Rs 49.15/16 per US dollar in yesterday's trade. Meanwhile, the Bombay Stock Exchange benchmark Sensex was down by 65.70 points, or 0.41 per cent, at 16,085.75 in opening trade today. PTI
