New Delhi, May 16: Eyeing good opportunity in the mid-range smartphone segment in the Indian market, Panasonic launches its latest smartphone, called P51 at Rs 26,990.
The Panasonic P51 has a 5 inch, full HD capacitive LCD touchscreen with a resolution of 1280 x 720 pixels. The device comes with an 8 MP rear camera with auto focus and LED flash. The smartphone runs on the Android 4.2 Jelly Bean OS and has a 1.3 MP 720p front camera.
The phone is powered by a 1.2 GHZ processor and has a 2500 MAH with a 3G talktime of 14 hrs and 2G talk time off 23 hours. A company official said India is being viewed as one of its alpha markets in the region and expressed confidence that P51 will provide Indian consumers a multimedia experience and a value-for-money proposition.
The smartphone comes with Oleophobic coating and dragon trail glass which makes it both scratch and finger-print resistant. It is a dual SIM device with 4GB internal storage and support for a maximum of 32GB of expandable memory.
The deice also has a stylus and a magnetic flipcover. It will have some pre-loaded apps including Cam Scanner, Cam Card reader and Open Office.
The phone which will be available at a price of Rs 26,990, will come in two colours: white and black. It will be available in retail stores in the next seven days.
Panasonic India's managing director, Manish Sharma, said that the phone will be manufactured at its facilities in China, Taiwan or Malaysia.
The company has plans to roll out eight more phones over the next three months priced between Rs. 6990 and Rs 35,000.
