New Delhi: Nokia India has launched two new Lumia smartphones for Indian consumers – Nokia Lumia 925 and Nokia Lumia 625 – priced at Rs 33,499 and Rs 19,999 respectively. The smartphones are targeted at people in the age group of 18-25 years.

The Lumia 625 is the largest Windows Phone smartphone to hit store shelves. It has a 4.7-inch display matching the Nexus 4, Xolo Play and other high-end smartphones. The 625 has an LCD display with a 480x800 pixel resolution giving it a pixel density of 199ppi. The 925 comes pre-loaded with Your Movies app that allows users to stream and download the movie on to the device. Your Movies will initially have over 3000 movies from Hollywood, Bollywood and other regional genre. Consumers buying Nokia Lumia 625will get a free entertainment package worth over Rs 16,000. This includes movies, eBooks from Flipkart and access to the Nokia Music Store, among others.

The Lumia 625 comes with a 1.2GHz dual-core processor along with 512MB RAM and 8GB internal storage that can be expanded up to 64GB via microSD card. It has a 5-megapixel rear camera and a VGA front-facing shooter. The 625 is also equipped with Super Sensitive Touch technology, which enables users to interact with the touchscreen even with gloves. The device will be available in Orange, Yellow, bright Green, White and Black colours.

Also for the first time, the Lumia 925 marks a departure from the polycarbonate industrial design as it used an aluminium chassis in conjunction with a polycarbonate cap for the back. This has resulted in the thinnest Lumia smartphone which measures 8.5mm and is starkly lighter than the Lumia 920 at 139 grams.

The Lumia 925 has a 4.5" AMOLED display with a 1280x768 pixel resolution, offering a 332ppi pixel density. The smartphone comes with 16GB built-in storage with no expansion options. The device is powered by a Qualcomm chipset that packs a dual-core Krait processor at 1.5 GHz and features 1 GB of RAM for multi-tasking. It also houses a 2000mAh battery. The Nokia Lumia 925 also has wireless charging capabilities via a removable back panel that comes as an accessory.

The USP of the 925 is its camera which comes with Nokia's PureView camera software. The rear end comes with 8.7 megapixel sensor with Optical Image Stabilization and fF/2.0 aperture, which is already proven to capture impressive images. The LED flash at the back allows the shooter to perform well during low light conditions and doubles as a video light. Nokia Lumia 925 has a Smart Camera app, which lets you to capture great quality images in several shooting modes including burst mode, Best shot, Action Shot and Motion focus. Furthermore, the app has the Scalado-made feature that lets you remove moving objects and pick the best face for each person.

Separate back-panels are provided by Nokia for wireless charging. While the phone is available in only three colours: Black, White and Gray (a disappointment in the colourful Lumia series), the back panels come in bright colours.

"We have launched 12 Lumia devices in 18 months... that's an amazing speed when you have a platform which is launched from scratch," Nokia India Director Marketing Viral Oza said, adding that the company is targetting the youth in the age group of 18-25 years.

"Our focus consumers are the 18-25 year old youth and within that depending on the kind of offering we have, we appeal to different parts of them," Oza said. He said for 625, the company is appealing to somebody who wants a smart and affordable device which has the advance Lumia features and a large screen where they can enjoy entertainment.

Both, the Nokia Lumia 925 and Lumia 625 will be available from online retailers and physical stores, but there is no timeline at the moment. However, you can sign up at the official Nokia India website and be the first to know the availability details of the smartphones.
