Pune: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday claimed that India has become the fastest growing economy in the world. The Prime Minister said, "India is the fastest growing economy in world with the GDP growth rate of 7.4%."
Pitching his government's 'Make in India' campaign, Prime Minister Narendra Modi invited US-based General Electric (GE) to manufacture ships in India. "India offers immense opportunities for the ship-building sector," PM Modi said.
Inaugurating GE's first manufacturing plant in India, PM Modi said, "I congratulate GE & assure the world that there are many opportunities in India." "I have seen how a state of art manufacturing facility is today. I want to congratulate GE," Modi said.
Highlighting on steps taken by the government to ease setting up of new businesses in India, the PM said that the number of permissions needed to set up hospitality industry being brought down from 110 to 20.
On inviting US-based GE to manufacture ships in the country, the PM said, "India offers immense opportunities for ship-building sector."
PM Modi further said that "We are blessed with demographic dividend".
