New Delhi: The year 2014 was a good one when it comes to Indian traveling abroad. A report published in The Times of India suggests that the Mumbai –Dubai route was the busiest one in which around 17.5 lakh passengers had traveled between these two cities.
The second spot was occupied by Delhi-Dubai route which had 13.6 lakh passengers. Clearly, the Emirate emerged as the destination most frequented by Indians.
Dubai witnessed a whopping 84.5 lakh people flying to and from India last year, closely followed by UAE which saw almost 44 lakh visitors. London, Bangkok, Singapore and Kathmandu were the other major destinations or transit points for Indian globetrotters last year.
India is an important market when it comes to international aviation industry. Indians not only from metro cities but even from tier two and tier three Indian cities outside are traveling outside the country. For instance in 2014 around 4.5 lakh tourists flew between Kochi and Sharjah and likewise 4.7 lakh fliers traveled between Trivandum and Dubai.
While the domestic air travel in India has been a roller costar ride for the aviation companies the International air travel has seen a growth of almost 10 per cent.
