The auto market could garner excellent growth in terms of sale figures and the market share.
Whereas, emission scandals showed a temporary dark phase to the industry, but with the beginning of the new year, enthusiasts are set with the renewed expectations and the manufacturers are ready to fulfill them with a fresh lineup of vehicles.
There is a lot to be displayed in the coming Indian Auto Expo 2016. But here we have compiled top 5 most awaited sedans of 2016. Let's check it out:
Honda City:
The most selling sedan of Honda, the City, is ready to be launched with a facelifted version.
The sixth generation of this popular sedan was launched in 2013 but it now comes with more updates on the cosmetic, aesthetic and mechanical side.
The new City is influenced by Honda Jazz for its design and by the Crider sedan that is on sale in the Chinese market.
The city facelift would accommodate the 1.5L i-DTEC diesel engine mated to a 6-speed manual gearbox and the 1.5L i-VTEC petrol mill coupled with the 5-speed manual CVT transmission.
Expected price for this facelift sedan is around INR 8-11 Lac.
Tata Zica Sedan:
Tata Zica sedan is the most excited upcoming product to be unveiled in the first half of this year.
Likely to be renamed as Sway, this sedan will be available with a choice of petrol and diesel engines.
The 1.2L petrol Revotron is the same that energizes both the Bolt and the Zest and the other one is the 1.05L diesel mill.
The sedan might come with an AMT transmission. Also, the car is likely to receive the Eco and the City drive modes.
Its contemporary design and precise interiors make the model competitive on the economic side.
Expected to range between INR 6.5-8.5 Lac, the vehicle would take on the likes of Hyundai i10 and the Maruti Suzuki Celerio.
Volkswagen Ameo:
The German car maker foresees to increase its share in the Indian auto market and for the same it brings Ameo Sedan, Tiguan premium SUV and the new Passat from its lineup.
Volkswagen Ameo is probably the most contemplated Sedan of the year. The car resembles Polo and inherits its features and platform from this hatch counterpart.
On the other hand, the vehicle has been caught testing and its face appears to be identical to the Vento sedan. However, VW will continue to be powered by the Polo engines, the 1.2L MPI & TSI petrol and the 1.5L TDI diesel mills.
Falling between a price bracket of INR 6-9 Lac, this sub-4meter compact sedan would lock horns with Honda Amaze, Hyundai Xcent, Swift Dzire, Tata Zest and Ford Aspire.
Chevrolet Cruze (2nd Generation)
Chevrolet Cruze facelift is already on the roads of the United States and the second generation of the hatch will soon be seen in India.
Dimensionally, a lot of modifications are done to the entire model to get upgraded results.
The new Cruze is now 68mm longer to its predecessor. The car gets an increased wheelbase of 15mm and a reduced height of about 25mm.
An additional 51mm of knee room is given and all these specs increase the overall cabin space.
Not only this, but the facelift version is almost 113 kg lighter than the earlier Cruze, yet it gets a 27% stiffer body.
Moreover, the sedan incorporates one of the 'most mass-efficient' chassis systems in the market.
The 2nd generation Cruze would be powered by a 1.6L Ecotec diesel engine mated to a manual transmission.
Expected price for the vehicle is INR 15.5-18 Lac and it will rival the likes of Toyota Corolla Altis, Skoda Octavia, Hyundai Elantra and the Renault Fluence.

The car will receive a 2.0L i-VTEC petrol engine that further would be mated to an electric motor which will pull the power from the on-road lithium-ion battery.
The transmission, on the other hand, is an electronic CVT. This car was first launched in 2001 and its sales was finally halted in 2013 due to some reasons. But the hybrid re-entry of the sedan with a price range between INR 30-34 lac would give it the needed potential to compete with other sedans in the same segment.
