New Delhi: Homegrown handset maket Micromax is reportedly gearing up to launch the company's first ever full HD smartphone. The smartphone would be named Canvas Turbo A250.
The leak was tweeted by MMXNewscaster, a source of leaks related to Micromax mobiles. The tweet said, "Micromax Canvas Turbo A250 to be the First Full HD (1080p) phone from Micromax. To sport Quad Core processor."
Apart from the 1080p display and quad-core processor, nothing much is known about the smartphone. The Micromax Canvas Turbo A250 is believed to be the successor of Canvas 4 A210. The expectations are that the smartphone will pack at least 2GB RAM, 16GB (or 32GB) with microSD support and high-end cameras with smart features.
When Canvas 4 A210 was launched in July this year, critics and fans panned Micromax for bringing the new smartphone with no worthy upgrade to its predecessor, Canvas HD A116. Canvas 4 packed pretty much same internal hardware specification (1GB RAM and 1.2GHz quad-core chipset) sans a little bump in camera's pixel resolution, build quality and some gimmicky smart screen-unlock feature.
Micromax has been consistently giving a thrust to its Canvas series as it is now using the name even for tablets, retiring the Funbook brand name. The 8-inch Canvas Tab P650 was launched for Rs 16,500 in India last month. Some of its features are an 8-inch IPS display, 5MP rear camera, 2MP front-facing camera, 16GB on-board memory, and support for 3G and Wi-Fi.
