HTC One (M8) Vs LG G2 4G: A comparison

w Delhi: After a long period of rumours, leaks and speculation, the HTC One M8 has now arrived. Bigger, faster, and more metallic than the last, the HTC One (M8) is as beautiful as its predecessor. The M8 is pleasure to hold and the speedy Snapdragon 801 SoC makes it blazingly fast. The new device comes with lots refinements and offers lots of new tricks on the software front. From top to bottom, the new One is the most luxurious Android device around.LG tasted much success with their current flagship LG G2. Hoping to continue the story, LG has now launched the LTE or 4G variant in India. India has recently become 4G compliant with service providers offering the faster data speed in select circles. Naturally, the 4G version becomes one of the most premium devices in the country. LG G2 16 GB LTE variant is priced at Rs 46,000 while the 16 GB 3G variant was launched for Rs 41,500. Let us take a look at how both these devices stack up against each other:Design and Build Quality Clearly, it will be an easy win for the M8. It's a premium smartphone with a one-piece aluminium body that looks and feels great. It offers an excellent build quality with its smooth brushed aluminum back wrapping around its edges to meet the Gorilla Glass 3-clad display. The phone is the best-looking Android device out there and is a worthy rival to the iPhone 5s. Notably, the new One is more gently curved than the last, fitting more naturally in the hand. The front of the LG G2 looks a lot like the Samsung Galaxy S4, although it has no physical or touch sensitive buttons below the screen. The power and volume keys, collectively known as the Rear Key, are all places on the back. It's a strange concept but you'd get use to it over time. Thanks to a feature called KnockON, you don't actually need the power key to switch the phone on and off. A simple double tap of the screen will bring it to life. The phone comes with super slim bezels which gives it a great 'edge-to-edge' look. DisplayThe HTC One (M8) comes with 5-inch Super LCD3 capacitive touch screen, offer a 1080 x 1920 pixels resolution. The device measures 146.4 x 70.6 x 9.4 mm at 160 grams. The LG G2 4G, has a slightly more 5.2-inch True HD-IPS + LCD display having same resolution of 1080 x 1920 pixels. It measures 138.5 x 70.9 x 8.9 mm at 143 grams. Processor While the HTC One (M8) has 2.3 GHz quad core Krait 400 processor and Qualcomm Snapdragon 801 chipset, the 4G variant of G2 is powered up with 2.26 GHz quad core Krait 400 processor and Qualcomm Snapdragon 800 chipset. Camera The highlight of the HTC One (M8) is the dual camera setup that puts a 4-UltraPixel camera alongside a depth sensing camera that lets you refocus images after they've been clicked. It also has a 5-megapixel front camera.The LG G2 (4G variant), on the other hand, offers a 13-megapixel primary camera with pixel resolution of 4160 x 3120. The device has 2.1-megapixel secondary camera at the front. Operating System Both the devices run Android platform. While the HTC One (M8) runs on Android 4.4.2 KitKat straight out of the box, the LG G2 (4G variant), runs on Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean. However, LG G2 can be upgradeable to Android KitKat. Storage and RAM The HTC One (M8) offers 2GB of RAM introducing the device in 16 GB and 32 GB variants. The memory can be expandable up to128 GB via microSD slot card. The LG G2 (4G variant), also offers 2 GB of RAM, introducing the device in 16 GB and 32 GB variants. Though, unlike the HTC's One (M8), it does not give the option to expand the device's memory. Battery The HTC One (M8) sports somewhat decent yet non-removable 2600 mAh battery, whereas the LG's G2 (4G variant) juices up the device with stronger 3000 mAh battery. Connectivity As with other phones in this class, the LG G2 offers 4G LTE and 3G mobile data capabilities, dual-band Wi-Fi (Direct and Hotspot), DLNA, Bluetooth, NFC and GPS.The HTC One M8 is similarly equipped on the connectivity side and has 16GB of onboard space with microSD support for cards up to 128GB. Price Though, HTC One (M8) is still expecting an official market price in India, the device has been priced at $649 off-contract (16GB), that translates to roughly Rs. 39,250. The LG G2 (4G variant), on the other hand, is available at Rs. 46,000 for the 16GB variant and Rs. 49,000 for the 32GB variant, respectively. Conclusion Looking at different departments, it is right to say that HTC One M8 has en edge over LG G2.
