New Delhi: Chinese handset maker Zopo has launched its latest smartphone, the Zopo ZP998, which comes with an 8 core processor in the form of an MTK6592 chipset with a clock speed of 1.7GHZ.
The ZP998 has the standard 2GB of RAM, and packs a Mali-450MP4 GPU that clocks in at 700 MHz. The device comes with 32GB of internal memory that can be expanded to 64GB through a microSD slot. The ZP998 looks a perfect gaming device.
The handset has a 5.5 inch full high definition display with a resolution of 1920 x 1080 pixels, offering a pixel density of 401 pixels per inch. The device is also the first of its kind to support full-HD, HEVC/H 265, and Google VP9 video compression standards for improved media playback. The smartphone also offers 2GB of RAM and 32GB of built in storage.
Other specifications on the Zopo ZP998 include a rear facing 14 megapixel camera with an f/2.0 aperture and the ability to record full HD video in 1080p, plus a rear facing 5 megapixel camera.
Zopo claims the device's 2,400mAh battery gives users a standby time of 270 hours thanks to the octa-core chip.
The Zopo ZP988 is available to pre-order from the manufacturer's website for $299.99 the handset will start shipping out to customers in 30 days.
Zopo ZP988's other interesting features include BE Voice technology that tweaks the levels of volume for your voice depending on your surroundings or distance from the device. Zopo has also added a quick gesture app launcher that can be used without unlocking the device.
Overall, specs-wise the Zopo ZP998 seems to be a good deal, considering the lower price point. However, we have to see what reviews tell about the smartphone. There is still no word on whether the company plans to offer the device in other markets.
