New Delhi: QuizUp, a new and free trivia game for iPhone or iPad boasting more than 150,000 trivia questions spread out over nearly 300 categories, has achieved 3.5 million registered users mark within three weeks of its launch, New York Magazine reports.

In comparison, it took Draw Something, the hot app of 2012, nine days to reach 1 million users.

QuizUp, which can be played by every age group, allows you to challenge both your friends and strangers. Players can either compete in a quiz against their opponent in real-time or round-by-round. Each quiz has seven rounds that lest ten seconds each.

To begin, you need to create an account, which you can do with your Facebook ID, email or a username of your choosing. After doing this step, you are ready to let the game find a match for you somewhere in the world, based on your XP (experience points), which is 1, to start.

Once you are connected to another user, the game lets you see the person's username, photo or graphic (optional), city/state or country flag, XP level and how close they are to leveling-up to the next stage.

Here are a couple of examples:

Which ancient world wonder was found in Giza?: Statue of Zeus, Lighthouse, Great Pyramid or Temple of Artemis? Correct answer: Great Pyramid.

Or:

Which international company shares its name with a character from Hermann Melville's "Moby Dick"?: Argos, Chanel, Nike or Starbucks. Correct answer: Starbucks.

The right or wrong answer can be visible through on a green or red vertical bar. You can also see how your opponent performed.

After you finish up a round, you will be notified if you won, along with how many points you've earned based upon areas like Match Score, Finish Bonus, Victory Bonus, Total XP.

In contrast, there is no single-player mode, meaning that you can't play alone nor can you play if there's no Internet connection.
