New Delhi: Panasonic has launched its flagship Eluga U smartphone in India for Rs 18,990. Eluga U vaguely resembles the Google Nexus 4 and is made of plastic.
Eluga U is taller and wider as compared to Nexus 4 thanks to its larger 5-inch screen. It measures 7.95mm thick, 141.5mm tall and 71.3mm wide. The phone weighs just 141g and is easy to grip.
The phone has 3.5mm audio jack on top and micro-USB port and microphone at the bottom. The right edge has the power button and below the power button are separate angled volume buttons. On the left is the flap that covers the Micro-SD card slot and houses the tray for two SIM cards. The notification LED, front-facing camera, earpiece and ambient light sensor are above the 5-inch display.
The handset comes with a 5-inch (720x1280-pixel) IPS OGS display and has Corning Gorilla Glass 3 on the front. The device is powered by a Snapdragon 400 quad-core processor clocked at 1.2GHz with Adreno 305 graphics. It has 2GB of RAM to run apps smoothly.
It comes with a 13 MP rear camera and a flash module for low-light situations. It also has a 2-megapixel front-facing camera. The phone has an internal storage of 16GB which can be further expanded up to 32 GB using an external microSD card.
The phone does not support 4G LTE but the two SIM cards can connect to 3G networks and operate on the 850/900/1800/1900/2100MHz GSM bands. The Eluga U is compliant with the latest Bluetooth 4.0 standard and can also connect to Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n networks.
The smartphone runs almost the latest version of Android - Android 4.4.2 (Kitkat) and has its own Fit Home UI on top of the operating system.
The smartphone is powered by a 2500 mAh battery.
