Indore: Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan today said advent of top software companies in Madhya Pradesh was a testimony to the state having the immense potential to emerge as a major IT destination in the country.

“Within six months of TCS launching its facility in Indore, Infosys today announced initiation of its first step in the state which has thrilled me like a child,” the elated Chouhan said at the foundation laying ceremony of Infosys' proposed SEZ near here.

The SEZ, with an initial investment of Rs 400 crore, is coming up on 130 acres of land at the super corridor on the outskirts of city.

“The state has an immense potential to emerge as a major IT destination in the country. Out growth rate remained at over 10 per cent in the last eight years and we are also supplying power in 24X7 mode in the state,” the chief minister said.

After the completion of all phases, nearly 13,000 people will get employment in the facility, out of which as per the agreement with the state government, 50 per cent jobs would be exclusively for youths from the state, he said.  “I am confident that after Bangalore, Hyderabad and Pune now IT companies will head towards Madhya Pradesh.

IT parks are ready in Bhopal, Gwalior and Jabalpur and talks are on with the major IT players to set up their facilities in these places also,” Chouhan said adding the state government would extend all possible help to small IT players as well.

Chouhan said his government had started a scheme to promote IT and BPO sectors in 16 districts of the state.  “The state is producing over 1.5 lakh engineers from various institutions and the government would enhance their skills as per the requirement (of) these IT companies,” he added.
