Mumbai: Medium sugar prices rose sharply in an otherwise steady Vashi wholesale market here today due to renewed buying from stockists and retailers supported by heavy seasonal demand.
Small variety held steady in the absence of necessary buying support.
Medium sugar (M-30) rallied by Rs 100/20 per quintal to end at Rs 3,282/3,472 from overnight level of Rs 3,182/3,452. Following are today's closing rates for sugar (per quintal) with the previous rates given in brackets:
Medium sugar (M-30) quality: Rs 3,282/3,472 (Rs 3,182/3,452).
Small sugar (S-30) quality: Rs 3,132/3,282 (Rs 3,132/ 3,282).
