New Delhi: Revealing a fascinating insight into our daily search habits and the social trends of 2013, search engine giant Yahoo has released its list of most popular search terms for 2013.
For Americans, singer Miley Cyrus was the top search query on Yahoo, due to her go at the butt-shaking dance called twerking.
Cyrus was followed by reality TV star Kim Kardashian, who dropped to number two despite her highly publicized pregnancy, divorce and engagement.
The third spot was held by model Kate Upton, followed by the online gaming phenomenon Minecraft. Then came actress-singer Selena Gomez, followed by the President Barack Obama's healthcare plan, or Obamacare.
According to Yahoo, Twerking was among the popular "web obsessions," along with "selfies," or self-directed photos captured on a smartphone.
Yahoo has been publishing this annual look-back for the past 13 years as a way to gain some retrospect in what exactly was on the minds of the American Internet user.
The trends and issues are editorially driven and dictated by the user, not the company.
