BMW launches Z4 roadster in India at Rs 68.90 lakh

New Delhi: Luxury carmaker BMW has launched its Z4 roadster model in India at a starting price of Rs 68.90 lakh for the basic model and Rs 69.90 lakh for the new ‘Design Pure Traction' variant. The BMW Z4 is available at all BMW dealerships across India as a CBU (Completely built-Up) unit from today.For the 2014 model year, the Z4 comes with new exterior features, interior refinements and the Hyper Orange design package, as well as availability of a full range of BMW ConnectedDrive features. The Z4 is available only in petrol variant in 10 different color options. Of the all paint finishes, the boldest is Valencia Orange metallic, which can only be ordered with the Hyper Orange Design option.On the outside, the model has been given some minor facelift in form of a slightly redesigned kidney grille and a new headlamp cluster with hexagonal daytime running lights. In addition, the car comes with a long wheelbase, a low beltline and low-slung rear end.BMW is offering the model with ‘Design Pure Traction' option which comes with a vivid new equipment package that will please those who are bored with the unvarying look of too many new cars. The package gives the consumers the option of applying the metal weave trim strip, which can be combined with further decorative elements in high-gloss black for the door openers and the gearshift or selector lever.This is strictly a two-seater and has a low seating position that's right back at the rear axle. The hardtop roof on the car can be opened at the touch of a button while the car is moving at up to 25 mph (40 km/h).Changes to the standard interior include high-gloss black surrounds for the central air vents and the iDrive control system's folding Control Display (where fitted). Inside its cosy cabin, there are features as sports seats, leather steering wheel, driver's footrest, door-sill finishers and an anthracite-coloured roof liner.The new BMW Z4 sDrive18i is powered by a 2.0-litre four-cylinder engine with BMW's highly efficient TwinPower turbo technology. It produces maximum power output of 115 kW. Peak torque of 240 Nm is brilliant, spread from just 1250 rpm and is there all the way up to 4400 revs.The company is also offering its optional M Sport package, which includes Adaptive M suspension, 18-inch M light-alloy wheels and an M aerodynamics package with large air intakes in the front wing and a rear bumper inlay painted Anthracite metallic.
