New Delhi: BlackBerry Messenger (BBM), a proprietary Internet-based instant messenger and videotelephony application included on BlackBerry devices, will soon come preinstalled on the LG G Pro Lite from LG Electronics, in global markets.
As per the arrangement, LG will bundle BlackBerry's cross-platform messaging app on the devices using its LG App Manager.
“BBM, a popular service in the Middle East, Africa and Indonesia, is used to connect with each other and the enthusiasm has been phenomenal,” said Andrew Bocking, executive vice-president for BBM at BlackBerry.
BlackBerry says the BBM gives users privacy and control, as they chat with their contacts in multiple chats, one-to-one, or as part of a BBM Group.
To maintain privacy, every BBM user is given a unique PIN tied to their BlackBerry ID and users never have to give out their phone number or e-mail address to begin chatting with a new or casual contact.
BBM's Delivered and Read statuses, as well as message-in-progress notices, keep people engaged and active in their conversations, the company said. BBM also lets users share files such as photos and voice notes and up to 30 people can connect as a BBM Group.
