Mumbai, Aug 12: French cement giant Lafarge today said the Himachal Pradesh High Court has set aside the ruling of a Government body that had quashed the environment clearance granted to its project in the hill state in June 2009.
The National Environment Appellate Authority (NEAA) had rejected the firm's Rs 900-crore cement plant in Himachal Pradesh citing incorrect assessment of the environmental and socio-economic impact of the facility. “Lafarge welcomes the decision of the court and is committed to total legal and environmental compliance,” the company said in a statement here.
“The High Court has also referred the environment clearance to the Environment and Forest Ministry for consideration. Lafarge will comply with the recommendations of the Ministry, as may be stipulated,” it said.
Details of the court ruling are awaited, the cement maker added. PTI
