New Delhi, Aug 2: Last year, the famous American pop star Justin Bieber got 2012 Fisker Karma car on his birthday, but to add a new twist to the car that suits his personality, he decided to personalize it and thus chromed it. Bieber's gift came from his manager, Scooter Braun, and the singer Usher (a friend of Bieber).Briber chose guys at West Coast Customs to do the modification and the electric vehicle was chromed, in a “Dubai” way. The designers also added some LED lights under the grille and black 22-inch wheels were bolted on. The Fisker Karma is a plug-in hybrid luxury sports sedan being manufactured by Fisker Automotive. The car also bills itself as "the first true electric luxury vehicle with extended range and the freedom to plug in or fill up."The Fisker Karma comes with a 20 kW lithium-ion battery that powers the two electric motors in order to develop a total output of 402 horsepower and 1.300 Nm of torque (959 lb-ft). The sedan can accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in 6.2 seconds before reaching a top speed of 200 km/h (124 mph). A 2.0 liter turbocharged petrol engine acts as a generator when the battery is depleted and the model can travel up to 83 km (52 miles) on electricity alone, having an overall range of 483 km (300 miles) and averaging 2.5L/100km (112 mpg UK) while emitting 51 grams of CO2 every kilometer."Once you sit down it feels like you're wearing it rather than sitting in it. We liked its swank leather interior, made of 'low carbon' leather that was manufactured in the greenest possible way, in keeping with the overall theme of the vehicle," said an auto expert.Interestingly, Karma's 50-mile range, before shifting from electric to gas power, is lower than the 100-mile range of leading all-electric cars like the Nissan Leaf.Surely, you would want to give Justin Bieber full marks for selecting a lean mean Green Machine. But the chromed out, $100 K, Bieber-car is too flashy. According to California law, a fully chromed out car is perfectly legal, but those pretty little mood lights under the front bumper are not legal.
