Kawasaki Ninja 300 launched in India at Rs 3.5 lakh

New Delhi, April 11: Bajaj Auto launched their all new superbike, Kawasaki Ninja 300 for a base price of Rs 3.50 lakh (ex-showroom, New Delhi). The smart and sporty bike is replacement for Ninja 250R in India. However, unlike US markets, India will not receive the ABS option.The engine of Ninja 300 is entirely new and stroke is only slightly longer. It is powered by a 296cc oil cooled parallel twin engine which delivers a respectable 39 bhp and 27 Nm of torque (which is nearly 20 per cent more than the Ninja 250R). The engine is connected to a 6-speed gearbox via a slipper clutch.The 8-valve DOHC engine is fed via a dual-throttle body electronic fuel injection system. The semi double-cradle chassis made up of high tensile steel has main tubes that are 150% more rigid than the 250R and employs square beam swing arm. The newest Ninja's power bump us immediately noticeable once you click into first gear, as the bike produces quick acceleration along with a huskier engine response. The fuel-injected engine fires up quickly and doesn't require warmup time before you're on your way down the road.The Ninja 300 brings a layer of security to the bike that would appeal to the advance bikers as well as the beginners. The smartly designed digital display console also shows an odometer, fuel indicator, dual trip meters and clock, apart from an economy indicator. With a seat height of 30.9 inches, the Ninja 300's saddle is a half inch higher than the bike it replaces. The bike also gets improved under seat storage as it now offers bi-level storage, with individual compartments for tools and documents. The Ninja 300 footrests are machined aluminium units giving it a proper big bike look.The bike provides a tubeless front (110/70 x 17inch) tyre and broader (140/70 x 17inch) rear tyre. The 300 is equipped with Nissin made disc brakes, 290mm disc in front and 220mm unit at rear. The Ninja 300 weighs 172kg and deploys a reworked rigid, diamond type, steel frame. In comparison, it is much heavier than the KTM Duke 390. The frame uses redesigned main tubes, with high tensile steel sections increasing rigidity. The fuel tank can hold 17 litres.
