New Delhi, April 11: The Iranian authorities are planning to launch their own 3D mapping service that would rival Google Earth, which Tehran claims is a tool for western spy agencies.
Mohammad Hassan Nami, said that Iran is apparently fed up with using Google Maps and want something more "Islamic". We are not sure what an Islamic mapping system would look like, as getting from point A to point B rarely requires divine intervention. He said an "Islamic Google Earth" to be called Basir.
According to Nami, the 'Islamic competitor' of Google Earth will be ready for use "within the next four months", the Guardian reports.
