New Delhi: Apple has launched the iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus, 4.7in and 5.5in smartphones which debut the firm's new Retina HD display. But what exactly is Retina HD?

According to Phil Schiller, Apple's SVP of worldwide marketing, Retina HD is the “the most advanced displays ever to go into a phone”. The smaller of the two new iPhone 6 models has a 4.7-inch display, and offers the Retina HD resolution, with 1334 x 750 pixels providing 326 pixels per inch and a wider angle of view.

The iPhone 6 will have 38 per cent more pixels than the iPhone 5S, while the iPhone 6 Plus will offer a staggering 185 per cent more pixels with this Retina HD.

Those pixels are dual domain pixels, which allow for broad viewing angles and better color saturation. The Retina HD is sRGB active, too.
